Christopher Rowe, Architect AIBC CPHD LEED AP

Christopher Rowe enjoys collaborative, integrated teamwork, taking a hands-on role using both traditional drawings and 3D modelling to bring the entire client and consultant team into the design process. He is always seeking a balance between the pragmatic and the poetic in architecture and is always interested in the spaces as much as the surfaces. He has practiced in Victoria and Vancouver for 29 years – as principal in his own Victoria firms idealink architecture inc and de Hoog D’Ambrosio Rowe Architects, and as design leader for seven years in Cannon Design’s Vancouver and Victoria offices, where he led project teams for some notable sports and recreation, resort, healthcare, and technology projects and managed the integrated design teams for the Richmond Olympic Oval and Telus World of Science. He has led or contributed to numerous neighbourhood-based urban design projects for many Greater Victoria and Island municipalities, and some significant large-site master planning projects for institutional and private clients. Chris has taught in the studio at the University of British Columbia School of Architecture and served as member and chairman of the City of Victoria Advisory Design Panel. He is a former member of the Cascadia Green Building Council local chapter executive and the AIBC’s Sustainability Committee and has been invited to speak on sustainability topics to groups such as ASHRAE, the Purchasing Manager’s Association of Canada, and the AIBC. When he isn't working (and sometimes when he is), Chris likes to listen to obscure progressive rock and jazz and is enthusiastic about street photography, politics, science, science fiction, big machines and dystopian industrial archaeology.
