Diana M. Priestly Law Library

This project consisted of a comprehensive renovation to the existing two storey law library building, which including a new mezzanine addition, new group study rooms, classrooms, grad study suite, undergraduate study rooms, environmental law departmental, multimedia seminar rooms, customized service counters, secure rare books reserve room, reference & technical services facilities, and faculty offices. The design concept centred on the creation of open student spaces, generating site lines toward vistas and views to surrounding landscapes, enhancing access to natural light, incorporating multiple student lounge/study seating areas and integrating wayfinding within the interior elements to achieve unity between the two floors while distinguishing the functional spaces within.

This project required full architectural services; including gathering as-built information, meeting with client and user groups, defining the program, conducting design meetings & presentations, preparing full tender documentation and providing construction administration services. The design included strategic seismic upgrading and the client’s decision to integrate a mezzanine during design development expanded the user’s program capabilities.
